The opening ceremony for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games was indeed remarkable and gave people some ‘goosebumps’ even to those who watched it at home.
It is undeniable that part of this feeling came from the Pinay beauty queens who were able to showcase the Filipino spirit as they acted as muses for the delegates.
On Instagram, Pia Wurtzbach and Megan Young both shared their experience as they took part in the opening ceremony of the Southeast Asian Games. The two also had an opportunity to take some photos wearing their elegant ternos designed by Eric Pineda.
Wurtzbach, who won the Miss Universe 2015 title, served as the muse for the Philippines.
“So happy and blessed to represent our beloved country at the opening of the 30th Southeast Asian Games,” her caption reads. Goodluck to all the hardworking athletes. Mabuhay po kayo at mabuhay ang bansang Pilipinas!”
Young represented Indonesia where she won the Miss World title back in 2013. She shared on social media how happy she was after walking with Indonesian athletes, as well as her feelings after hearing the name of her home country.
“I’m so happy I got to walk with the Indonesian athletes. Indonesia will always be a country dear to my heart because that’s where I won Miss World,” she wrote on the caption.
“Took some photos backstage with Queen P @piawurtzbach who walked with the Philippine athletes during the opening number!
“Nakakakilabot nung sinabi yung ‘Philippines!’ During that moment we were all just so proud to be Filipino,” Young added.
