Daniel Padilla dominated in the Best Actor category during the 37th Luna Awards held at the Maybank Performing Arts Theater in Taguig last Saturday, November 30.
The 24-year-old actor was hailed as the Best Actor after being recognized in his role as a frustrated musician in the movie “The How’s of Us.”
Among the other nominees that he outperformed were the late Eddie Garcia (Rainbow’s Sunset), Dingdong Dantes (Sid & Aya), and Christian Bables (Signal Rock).
In the movie, Padilla played the character of “Primo” who dreamed of becoming a popular singer and artist. He experienced a young sweet love with his girlfriend “George,” played by his on- and off-screen partner Kathryn Bernardo.
When things are not going the way Primo expected them to be, their relationship became unstable and they decided to part ways so they could figure out what they really wanted to do with their lives.
The “How’s of Us” became the highest grossing film in 2018; earning more than 800 million in 50 days after its release in cinemas.
It was overtaken by another Cathy Garcia-Molina movie this 2019 entitled “Hello Love, Goodbye” which starred Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards.
Meanwhile, Glaiza de Castro bagged the Best Actress award for her role in “Liway.” Arjo Atayde was named Best Supporting Actor in “Buy Bust” while Daria Ramirez was his female counterpart in the same category for “Signal Rock,” as per a report from ABS-CBN.
Chito S. Roño was also recognized and received the the best director award for “Signal Rock.”
