A vlogger decided to visit an 82-year-old balut vendor in Laguna to surprise him with a few blessings.
Basel Manadil, also known as the Hungry Syrian Wanderer, is again back on the streets to find hardworking and deserving Filipinos to be given surprise blessings.
This time, Basel finds himself in Biñan, Laguna in search for the “Legendary” 82-year-old balut vendor. According to him, a netizen shared a photo of the half-blind lolo, who, at his age is still trying to sell balut late at night.
Basel wrote, “Meet Lolo Fernando, the legendary 82-year-old blind balut vendor of Biñan, Laguna! Blind na po isang mata ni Tatay kaya permanent na po nakapikit ang isang mata while the other is malabo na.”
The kind vlogger admitted he has a “soft spot” for the elderly and wished they could just stay at home and enjoy old age. Basel said, “A concerned netizen sent me a photo of Lolo and told me about his situation. I have soft spot sa mga elders, na sana ay nagrerelax na lang while on their golden age pero in reality marami pa din sa kanila ang kumakayod para sa pamilya.”
He added that the very same day he received the photo of Lolo Fernando, he braved the heavy traffic of SLEX just to find him. Basel said, “And there he is! Late at night at nagtitinda pa din ng Balot.”
Basel said he bought all of Lolo Fernando’s balut for the night at three times the price. He took the hardworking old man home to “make sure na hindi makulit si lolo at ititinda pa din nya ang kanyang mga balut. Hehe.”
The vlogger also made a promise that he will come back and give Lolo Fernando more blessings. Basel said, “Until I see you again lolo salute to all balut vendors out there!! Mabuhay po kayo.”
