Pacquiao admitted that while there are missteps and shortcomings in the preparation of the 30th SEA Games, there is a proper time to discuss it. He said our athletes need all the encouragement they need and bickering online won’t do any good.

Pacquiao said, “Siguro saka na natin pag-usapan ‘yan, i-enjoy muna natin, suportahan natin ang ating mga atleta para ma-encourage naman sila. Hindi siguro ito ang time para pag-usapan kung may mga problema.”

The world-renowned boxing champ recalled his days when he gets affected by criticisms. He appealed to all Filipinos to wait until the games are over before we start discussing on the issues.

Pacquiao said, “Ako rin atleta, so kung maririnig ko before the fight na mag-uusap na as athlete, siguro makakaapekto rin sa akin kaya nga sabi ko, panawagan ko sa taumbayan na huwag muna nating pag-usapan ang problema, tapusin muna natin itong SEA Games.”

Pacquiao echoed the call of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go for a probe to be done on the apparent inefficiencies of the organizers once the games are over. “After siguro ng SEA Games at nakauwi na ‘yung mga bisita natin, ibigay natin ‘yung gusto ng ating taumbayan na magkaroon ng imbestigasyon,” Pacquiao said.

This came after the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) faced heavy criticism online for the transportation, hotel and food woes of delegates.
