Filipino actress Maxine Eigenmann was hailed as Best Actress in the 13th Asia Pacific Screen Awards held in Brisbane, Australia last November 21.
Eigenmann earned the international accolade for her performance in the Filipino film “Verdict” directed by Raymund Ribay Gutierrez.
The 32-year-old actress dedicated her award to the Philippines and the country’s film industry as she received her award in front of more than 800 filmmakers and actors from the region’s 70 countries.
“Being here tonight has been truly one of the most momentous and exciting experiences of my life and receiving this is beyond anything that I expected or imagined. This is for you, Philippines. Mabuhay ang Pelikulang Pilipino!” Eigenmann gushed while accepting the award.
She also took to Instagram to express how grateful she is for the award; saying, “Extremely proud to have represented our country at this year’s Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA). I am so grateful and deeply humbled to have been given the chance to be among such amazing creatives from many countries,” the Filipina artist said.
“Words cannot express how surprised and overwhelmed I am to win the Best Performance by an Actress award. I am beaming with joy knowing that I have made you all proud and happy with this recognition,” she continued.
Verdict is produced by Brillante Mendoza, starring Rene Durian, Jordhen Suan, and the late Krsitoffer King. The film is also a Special Jury Prize winner in the Orizzonti section of the 76th Venice International Film Festival and the Philippine entry to the Academy Awards 2020.
