Jessica Soho is not a multi-awarded Filipino journalist for nothing.
Even in the middle of a throng of employees, who were evacuating due to the strong qua
ke on the afternoon of September 13, Soho pulled off an impromptu reporting using a smartphone on Facebook.
“Katulad ng nangyari several months ago, nandito na naman kami sa labas ng GMA Network Building kasi lumin
d0l na naman po,” the GMA News anchor started her impromptu reporting on a Facebook live while in the middle of evacuation procedures.
“Tuloy-tuloy po ang trabaho namin, pero safety first,” Soho said as she and other employees moved to a safer ground near the network’s building.
Ironically, their work for the day was hampered due to the qu
ake but the journalist within Soho could not rest so she anchored a 20-minute unscripted mobile reporting. She also interviewed some of her staff in Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho on their experience of the incident.
She later on interacted with the Facebook audience for their feedback from where they are. She got report from different parts of Luzon where the shake was felt.
“Basta mag-ingat po kayo. ‘Wag magpa-p
anic. Kapag sinabing dito tayo tulad ng ginagawa namin doon tayo pumunta kung saan safe. ‘Yung mga prinactice po natin for the longest time now — yung duck, cover, hold — dapat memoryadong memoryado na natin. ‘Yung mga go bags natin, handa na po ba?” Soho went on as she is seen walking to the designated evacuation site.
[Take care everyone. Don’t p
anic. When we are told to evacuate to a certain place where we can be safe like what we are doing, we must follow. By now, we should already know the safety measures that we have been practicing for the longest time like the duck, cover, hold.]
