Japan is on a massive hiring for Filipino caregivers to be sent to their country.
The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has made the announcement that Japan is eyeing to hire as much as 60,000 caregivers in the span of 5 years.
Due to their growing aging population, the Japanese government is opening its doors to more foreign workers.
POEA administrator Bernard Olalia said, “Malaki at mataas iyong kanilang aging population so ine-expect nila in the coming years, magkakaroon ng malaking labor shortage.”
Olalia also said that experience is not a requirement to apply as a caregiver in Japan. Interested applicants must be a nursing graduate (with or without a license), or a graduate of any four-year course. They must obtain a National Certificate 2 (NC-2) from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and undergo a Japanese language training.
The POEA also clarified that interested applicants are not required to pay any placement fee and employment fee.
“Both the government and the employment track, walang placement fee, walang employment fee,” Olalia said.
It is said that a caregiver in Japan earns a salary of 200,000 yen or as much as P95,000.
Due to the high demand, several Japanese companies have visited the Philippines to conduct free training on caregiving.
A Japanese union, the Cooperative Union Business Supply Aichi (CUBSA), was recently in the country to conduct in-house training and hiring of caregivers. The union is planning to hire as much as 1,000 Filipino caregivers to be sent to Japan.
The POEA reminded applicants to be wary of illegal recruiters and to visit the official website of POEA for details.
In their website, the POEA has listed the following pre-recruitment briefing schedules for the 12th batch of Nurse and Caregiver applicants:
June 20,2019 – POEA, Cebu City
June 20,2019 – POEA, Davao City
