There is no doubt that the K-Pop (Korean Pop) industry is dominating our country alongside Korean dramas and series that many Filipinos are going crazy with!
Many K-pop groups, idols, and Korean celebrities have already visited our country for concerts or meet and greet events.
In fact, Pinoys love K-pop so much that concerts are sold out within a few minutes. Korean dramas or shows are also being dubbed and shown in the Philippine television.
And just recently, the K-pop lovers have managed to take over Twitter with the hashtag #CleanManilaBayforSeulgi trending in the number one spot.
Non-Kpop fans might be wondering who Seulgi is and why would they clean the Manila Bay for her?
Seulgi is part of a South Korean girl group Red Velvet from SM Entertainment, one of the leading entertainment company in South Korea. They also produced and popularized numerous K-pop groups such as EXO and Girl’s Generation.
Just recently, Red Velvet visited Manila for the K-pop World Music Festival 2019. The music festival was participated by Red Velvet alongside other Korean artists and groups such as Sohee, Kim Dong-han, Elris, and NCT 127.
During the act of Red Velvet, Seulgi shared that the place she really wants to visit in the Philippines is Manila Bay. And because Pinoy fans are such an avid and gullible, they decided to create the #CleanManilaBayforSeulgi.
The hashtag brought a lot of Tweet reactions and attention to an issue that has been so concerning about the cleanliness of Manila Bay.
The hashtag escalated so much that it transformed into more than just an inside joke. Reveluvs (Red Velvet fans) are actually willing to clean up Manila Bay!
Red Velvet is composed of Irene, their leader, Seulgi, Joy, Wendy, and Yeri. The group is famous for their songs Bad Boy, Ice Cream Cake, and Peek-A-Boo.
It would be nice if the fandom transforms these words and energy into action.
Not only will it benefit our country’s Manila Bay, but it would be a nice gesture for their favorite idol. After all, Pinoy K-pop fans are always supportive and have done various charitable things for their idols.
