Reelected Davao del Norte Representative Pantaleon Alvarez said he will try his best to win Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

Amidst their row last year, Alvarez said he is seeking reconciliation with Presidential daughter Inday Sara.

Last 2018, just as the President delivered his third State of the Nation Address, Alvarez was ousted as the Speaker of the 17th Congress.  Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was elected Speaker; replacing Alvarez.

Although Inday Sara refused to confirm nor deny her involvement, it was speculated she had a hand in the ouster.

Speaking on GMA’s Unang Balita, Alvarez refused to speak about the ouster; calling it “water under the bridge.” He said, “Water under the bridge. Huwag na natin pag usapan. Let’s look forward.”

When asked if he will try to win Duterte-Carpio’ favor, Alvarez said, “I will try my best.”

Alvarez shared his motivation to seek the House Speakership again.

He said, “Gusto ko makatulong sa ating administrasyon, na itong second half ng Duterte administration ay may mga legislative agenda pa na nakabinbin at kailangan aprubahan. Tutulong po tayo.”

He also added he is confident that he will gain the support of the Congress.

Alvarez said, “Kung dito lang sa House of Representatives palagay ko naman ay meron tayo (suporta).”

Meanwhile, Duterte-Carpio has released a statement rejecting Alvarez’s offer of reconciliation.

In a statement, she called Alvarez “dangerous.” She stated, “I have no intention of accepting Rep. Bebot Alvarez’s offer of reconciliation because the offer was deceiving and utterly lacked sincerity.”

“Unknown to him, he was surreptitiously videotaped when he threatened, after his win in the recent elections in Davao del Norte, ‘Ipapahiya ko si Sara,’” Duterte-Carpio added.

“Alvarez was, and he remains to be very dangerous, Machiavellian individual who does not deserve peace,” she said.
