It is unbelievable to learn that you’re not an only child after believing so all your life, but how about discovering that you have 29 more siblings you never know you had.
It was the case of Shauna Harrison, 41, who after 39 years of believing that she is an only child, found out that she is one of 30 people sharing the same biological father.
According to a report, Harrison discovered the truth about herself through a DNA testing service, which have become increasingly popular in recent years.
Harrison learned when she was in her late 20s that her parents used a sperm donor to conceive her; without knowing, of course, that she wasn’t the only one.
In 2017, Harrison said she logged back into her 23andMe account to switch off her anonymity setting.
It was when she was contacted on the site by a person who told her they share the same donor father and the rest was history.
In the same report, she shared that one sibling turned into eight. Now there are 30 of them who are between 24 to 41 years old.
“It’s a very weird — is the only word I can come up with — feeling when you meet, because you know you share DNA with them,” Harrison said.
She went on to share that most of them live in the same area. Many of them even went to school near one another their whole lives or knew each other before finding out they were related.
