Did President Rodrigo Duterte and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un roam around the streets of Hong Kong?
Hundreds of churchgoers were greeted with a surprise when they attended a mass service in St. Joseph’s Church in Hong Kong.
An impersonator named Cresencio Extreme dressed up in Duterte’s signature crisp, white traditional barong tagalog with black trousers. A Hong Kong-based impersonator named Howard X also appeared looking like the Korean leader. He is currently Cresencio’s agent.
Cresencio aka Duterte look-alike appeared last year in ABS-CBN’s Pilipinas Got Talent. He is a father-of-five from Manticao, Misamis Oriental. The Hong Kong trip was his first out of the country travel.
“I used to be afraid of the fact I looked like Duterte until the TV manager told me to just enjoy it because this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Cresencio told South China Morning Post.
After attending the 1-hour mass service, fans and followers cheered and laughed over the “Duterte-Kim” tandem. A mob drew over the ‘leaders’ as they waved their phones for a selfie and more photos.
Those who were not yet aware that the duo catching attention were merely impersonators were curious as to why the leaders were roaming around without any bodyguards.
While there were many who found the ‘stunt’ entertaining, there were those who frowned over the commotion. A woman named Linda reportedly told Agence France-Presse that it was very unlikely that Duterte would want that much attention. She said, “Coming in here to make a scene — our Duterte is not like that.”
But it looks like the duo’s trip to church was just the beginning. The impersonators were seen roaming around the city followed by a throng of supporters. ‘Duterte’ and ‘Kim’ were even seen sharing a chickenjoy and “toasting a drink” in a Jollibee frequently visited by Filipinos.
