The federal district is divided into 31 administrative regions, and includes the Brazilian capital, Brasília.

“Much gratitude for the 467,787 people who trusted me and now I promise to honor with much work each and every one of you,” wrote Barros in a post on her official Facebook account.

The 47-year-old opposite hitter led her team to a bronze medal finish in the FIVB Grand Prix held in Manila nearly two decades ago. As soon as she enters the court back then, Filipino fans have started to love her. Hence, her large following here in the country.

She was also part of the Brazilian squad who bagged bronze in the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Olympics.
