Multi-awarded Kapuso journalist Jessica Soho earned praises online after a photo of her reporting live in Itogon, Benguet posted by social media user Dindo Balares made the rounds online.
The photo caption reads, “‘Yan si Jessica Soho. Kahit top TV executive, nasa field din. Kaya de-kalidad ng news coverages ng departamento niya.”
[That’s Jessica Soho! Even if she’s a top TV executive, she still goes on the field. That is why her department’s news coverages are of high quality.]
The post went viral with more than 2,000 reactions, more than 570 shares, and positive comments on Facebook.
To note, however, Soho retired as the First Vice President for News programs of the Kapuso Network in 2014 but she remained a Kapuso.
Under her leadership, as per GMA News, her team made GMA News the “leading and most credible broadcast news organization in the country.”
Presently, she’s hosting the Kapuso programs: Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho and State of the Nation with Jessica Soho; she also goes to field to cover important events for the television station.
In 1998, Soho became the first Filipino to win the British Fleet Journalism Award. In the same year, she and her I-Witness team received a Gorge Foster Peabody Award.
She’s also the first Filipino to win in the New York Film Festival for the category Coverage of a Breaking Story in her Cagayan Valley crisis report.
