- Lea Salonga shared why she isn’t in a hurry to do a reunion movie with Aga Muhlach
- She said she wanted to see a real demand and not just based on social media requests
- She’s already satisfied and happy with their last movie “Sana Maulit Muli”
Fans of the 90’s onscreen partner Lea Salonga and Aga Muhlach have been clamoring for their reunion movie but it looks like it would have to wait.
For Lea, it would take more than social media requests to convince her to make a reunion movie with Aga. She said there should be a “real clamor” because social media only reflects a small portion of fans. Social media is “not everybody,” Lea said.
The Broadway star added that if only a few wants to see her reunited with Aga, then the movie might not be worth making. She’s talking about numbers and we have to agree with her that, indeed, social media is simply ‘not everybody.’
Lea told Inquirer she is content with her many projects, including the recent one, “The Voice Kids Philippines.”
Lea and Aga’s last movie was “Sana Maulit Muli” by Director Olivia Lamasan back in 1995. That’s more than two decades ago. Because it is considered as an iconic film of the 90’s, it was re-released and digitally restored in 2015 which entertained a lot of their fans and followers.
Lea said she is in no hurry to do a reunion movie with Aga because she doesn’t want it to appear as a “stunt”; saying: “I’m very happy to leave our last movie where it was. If that’s the last movie we will ever do, then we’ll always be friends. We can hang out.”
“We have to feel that it’s not just a few fans who are asking for it. I don’t want to do it for nostalgia or as a stunt,” Lea further disclosed.
Back in 2017, fans gushed as a “love letter” written by Aga in 2013 made the rounds online. Aga described Lea as his TOTGA – “the one that got away and she never knew.”
