Presidential daughter, Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, opened up about herself in a vlog by her friend.
The 15-year-old daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte with his common-law-wife wife, Honeylet Avanceña, has often shied away from the limelight as she keeps a quiet and private life. But in a rare interview with YouTube vlogger Kyra Valentina, Kitty appeared quirky, funny and got candid as she answered personal questions.
In the video, Kitty and Kyra talked about almost anything under the sun, except for anything related to politics.
For one, Kitty shared how she got her name. While many often associate her name to the popular character “Hello Kitty,” the teenager said it was not based on it. When she was little, she was “malikot” and spirited that her parents called her “kiti-kiti.”
Kitty also clarified a rumor circulating about her gender preference. She said, “I-clear ko lang kasi dami din talaga nag-a-ask, ‘Ate bi(sexual) po kayo?’ No po. I’m straight.”
The youngest child of Duterte also shared she has no plans of attending college abroad. While her mother, Honeylet, approves of her going away, her father, wants her to stay in the country.
Being part of the Philippines’ first family, critics are always trying to throw rocks at them. Kitty shared how she has learned to handle such negatives.
She said, “Ang akin, focus on the things that are more important in your life, like the things you value. Ang mindset ko kasi… Nasanay na ako, to be honest.”
“Iniisip ko, ano bang nagawa nila para sa akin para magbigay ako ng attention sa kanila? Wala. Better pa kung i-focus ko sa mga taong importante sa akin, may nagawa para sa akin,” she said.
