An all Filipina team made it big in the Mobile Legends competition recently held in Singapore.
The Bren Esports Victress, a 6-member all-Pinay premier competitive gaming team ranked third in the Mobile Legends category of the recently concluded Female Esports League (FSL) in Singapore.
The Filipina gamers of the Bren Victress are Lou dela Serna (team captain), Mitch Liwanag (manager), Madiee Motebon, Ivvi Josue, Aizu Dualin, and Rhea Navarro.
The team had only been playing together for a month, unlike the other teams who have been together for years.
The original members, Lou, Mich and Persian held a try-out to screen potential applicants to their team. They based it on win rates and minimum experience of 3,000 matches.
For Bren Victress, being a female gamer is empowering as it breaks the ceilings of stereotypes that men are usually good in esports.
“Ang sarap ng feeling [maglaro ng Mobile Legends] ‘pag may di
nudur0g kang lalaki,” Madiee told GMA news.
Team captain Lou added, “Kaya rin ng mga girls…pwede rin kami dito sa pro [esports] scene.”
During the FSL competition, Bren Victress was defeated by the SFI Queens of Indonesia during the upper bracket finals while Team Grumpy of Singapore and Malaysia in the lower bracket finals.
Mich reminded her girls that placing 3rd isn’t so bad. On her Facebook page, she thanked everyone for supporting their team.
They appreciate every effort given to them, she said.
Mich also said, “We did our best… Third place is not bad pero babalik at babawi tayo.”
