Celebrity couple Lucy and Richard Gomez shared their thoughts and hesitations on having another baby through In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF.)

Richard recently revealed he had told Lucy that the possibility of freezing their sperm and egg cells in preparation for having a baby is a “great idea.”

However, Lucy seems to have hesitation, especially on the part where they have to “cull” the other egg cells not chosen.

Richard reportedly explained to Pep, “Ang ayaw lang niya kasi dun sa idea na, if you want to bear a child, you have to fertilize mga five eggs, ‘tapos pipiliin mo kung ano ‘yung pinakamalakas, ‘tapos ika-cull mo na ‘yung maiiwan. Yun ang ayaw niya.”

Even on the issue of surrogacy, the celebrity couple is also having doubts. Richard simply explained his fears, “Maaaring ‘yung traits nung bata, makuha niya ‘yun dun sa nag-carry.”

A devout Catholic, Lucy is having second thoughts and would just really want to leave it all to God’s plan.

She doesn’t want to lose hope and would rather believe that “Life for me is the art of the possible ba, and also acknowledging that there is somebody greater ang bigger than yourselves.”

Back in 2009, Richard revealed they were advised that Lucy should undergo a laparoscopy. Their OB said the procedure will “clean” the fallopian tubes for any obstruction, giving higher chances of pregnancy.

However, Richard said Lucy was scared. “E, si Lucy, takot sa mga ganoong procedures. Kahit na nga injection, natatakot ‘yun, e,” he told GMA.
