Several license renewal offices will now start operating even on Saturdays.
No need to file a leave or rush during breaks on weekdays just to renew your driver’s license. Motorists can now renew their driver’s licenses not just on weekdays but even on Saturdays.
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) released a memorandum directing all Driver’s License Renewal Offices (DLROs) in malls nationwide to continue their operations until Saturdays, starting June 2019.
LTO’s Memorandum Circular 2019-2167 dated May 14 2019 but was released for publication on June 10, 2019 mandates that DLROs shall operate and process applications for renewal of driver’s license and issuance of student permits even on Saturdays.
The Memorandum Circular stated, “To fully maximize the accessibility and availability of our services to public in malls, effective June 2019, all DLROS are hereby required to operate and process applications for renewal of driver’s license and issue student permits on Saturdays.”
“All DLRO heads are directed to coordinate with the respective malls or commercial centre managers as to the operating hours.”
For strict compliance, the memorandum circular was signed by Edgar C. Galvante, Assistant Secretary.
LTO further reminded motorists that they can renew their licenses two months in advance.
They stated, “To avoid penalty, earlier memo from LTO also allows renewal of driver’s license two (2) months or 60 days advance.”
LTO’s online appointment system is still available through PASS (Personal Appointment and Scheduling System) by logging-in to www.lto.net.ph
The agency said they remain committed to making the renewal of driver’s licenses “easier and more convenient for all.”
The good news was met with positive comments online. Netizen W. Morano said, “Again, congratulations for being sensitive to the needs of the public. Kudos for this!”
Another netizen J. Panaligan wrote, “Good job LTO, sana mas mag-improve pa kayo.”
