Aired on May 11, 2019, the first episode of the revamped version of “Home Sweetie Home: Extra Sweet” was the number 1 trending topic on Philippine trends.
According to a photo posted on “Home Sweetie Home” Instagram page, #HomeSweetieHomeExtraSweet was tweeted 24,000 times.
It was followed by several trending topics related to UAAP Season 81 Women’s Volleyball that also happened earlier that day.
The Kapamilya show also received higher TV ratings compared to GMA 7’s sitcom “Pepito Manaloto.”
“Home Sweetie Home:Extra Sweet” received 27.3% national TV ratings, while its rival only received 18.7%.
It also did well in urban (24.6%), rural (30%), Mega Manila (19.5%), and Metro Manila (20.6%).
In the new chapter of “Home Sweetie Home: Extra Sweet,” siblings Julie (Toni Gonzaga), Gigi (Miles Ocampo), and Rence (Clarence Delgado) moved into the apartment of their Tita Oya (Rio Locsin) after their house was burned down.
Here, they meet their half-sister Mikee (Alex Gonzaga), Pip (Luis Manzano), Ferdie (Vhong Navarro), and Edwin (Bayani Agbayani).
They are also joined by exchange student Hiro (Fumiya Sankai), pawnshop caretaker Bogs (Yamyam Gucong), and barangay captain Frank (Bobot Mortiz).
Toni is happy as she is joined by her sister and close friends.
“This is the best ‘Home Sweetie Home’ setting that I can dream of,” she said.
The comedy show first aired on January 5, 2014 with John Lloyd Cruz as Toni’s leading man. Piolo Pascual entered the show after Cruz’s showbiz hiatus.
However, Pascual was reported to be taking a leave to study abroad, thus the need to reformat the show to make way for the new characters.
“Home Sweetie Home: Extra Sweet” airs on ABS-CBN every Saturday at 6:45 p.m.
