Majority of Filipinos are fond of beauty pageants. In fact, Miss Universe is one of the most highly-anticipated events in the country. But did you know that there is a pageant called Little Miss Universe?
For the first time, Philippines has sent a delegate to showcase Filipino beauty and intelligence for this year’s Little Miss Universe.
Cebuana beauty queen Kasley Malaika Libres was announced first runner-up for Miss Universe 2019 (Teen Category) during its grand coronation night at Tbilisi, Georgia in Europe last May 10.
Libres may have not brought home the crown but she said she will keep the lessons she learned during the pageant.
“I learned to make friends, have fun, just loosen up and enjoy,” she said.
With optimism, Libres recounted her experience with the friends she made during the pageant like the candidates who represented Australia, India, Ukraine, Siberia, Georgia, and Vietnam.
“What is important is that when I get back home, I am gonna be bringing all the happy memories, activities, and bondings we had with the other candidates. The crown and title is a bonus for me,” Libres added.
According to Libres, she had fun while doing her best for the pageant. She also whispered her prayers prior to the final event.
“Before I went to the awarding ceremony, I prayed that if this is my time, it will happen. If it is not, then please give it to the rightful and deserving winner,” she said.
The 12-year-old beauty queen from Moalboal, Cebu did not only land as first runner-up in the competition. She has also won awards for Best in National Costume, Best in Talent, and Model of the World.
She brought the spirit of the entire Cebu in her national costume inspired by Sinulog Festival designed by Malayka Yamas.
