The popular Digital Art Museum teamLab located in Mori Building, Tokyo, Japan gained more fame and recognition as they makeover the museum in time for spring.
teamLab is a group of artistic and creative minds that contribute to the connection of different disciplines including art, science, technology, and design in relation to humans and the natural world. The group was founded in 2001 and consists of artists, programmers, engineers, CG animators, architects, and also mathematicians.
The theme “Borderless” aims freedom of art beyond boundaries through digital technology. “teamLab sees no boundary between humans and nature, and between oneself and the world; one is in the other and the other in one. Everything exists in a long, fragile yet miraculous, borderless continuity of life,” stated in teamLab Borderless website.
For this year, teamLab: Borderless presents spring-themed exhibits in accordance with the current season of Japan. One of their interactive digital installations is the “Spirits of Flowers” exhibition introducing the Chinese milkvetch plant which blooms during April.
The highlight of the museum is “The Forest of Resonating Lamps” flaunting a magnificent resemblance with the pink sakura of Japan widely known as the cherry blossoms. The exhibit was opened last March 1 and will end on April 30.
The main exhibit called “Borderless World” includes several digital installations such as the Universe of Water Particles on a Rock where People Gather; the Walk, Walk, Walk: Free Infinity; The Way of the Sea, Floating Nest; and 42 more. The “Athletics Forest” exhibit that has seven interactive space for the mind and body. And there’s also the “Future Park”, an educational amusement park with four interactive installations designed for kids.
