Nadine Lustre gave a straight answer she’s “open” to play the iconic role of “Darna.”
The Viva talent recently renewed her contract with ABS-CBN; sparking more rum0rs she’s “ready to fly” as the Filipina superhero.
Like Pia Wurtzbach, Julia Barretto and even Catriona Gray, Nadine said she’d be willing to grab the role if given the opportunity.
Nadine said, “Yeah, I’m open. Kasi it’s nice, it’s a good opportunity, it’s a good project, so who’s not open for it?”
She added, “I mean, if it’s meant for me, sa akin po ibibigay.”
Nadine explained, “But like what I’ve said before, I know that the project is going to be given to someone who can give justice to the role. It does not have to be me, as long as mabigyan ng justice. I know naman that everyone is going to pick the right one.”
For the upcoming Darna, two choices have already turned down the role, coincidentally, due to 1njury. After Angel Locsin and Liza Soberano, is Nadine willing to be a “third choice”?
She replied, “I don’t think it’s bad to be a third choice. I mean, you know, puwede rin namang it’s not the right time or it’s not the right project for them, so I don’t think it matters.”
Acclaimed director Erik Matti, who was formerly in charge of the ‘Darna’ film before backing out had been vocal that Nadine is perfectly fit for the role.
He earlier said, “The key to casting Darna has always been someone who can look plain and ordinary in her Narda alter ego but can be tough, spunky and can be very sexy when she transforms to Darna. Nadine can look all of that.”
