The crown is one of the most important things for a reigning Miss Universe — but what if she broke this precious thing while relishing an event?
In a video posted by Miss Universe on Twitter, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray made a confession; telling people around that she accidentally broke the Miss Universe crown while dancing during a parade recently.
“So one of the things I love most about the parade is that they have this like moving band and they have the drums and it makes me wanna dance. So I ended up dancing, although I’m not a very good dancer. But I’m…guys, I have a confession,” Gray said in the short video clip.
Slowly, she showed the piece from the broken Mikimoto Crown.
“The Mikimoto has seen better days as a result of my dancing. I’m so sorry,” she expressed.
The Mikimoto head piece reportedly features 500 diamonds weighing almost 30 carats and more than a hundred white South Sea pearls and Akoya pearls. Due to its delicate nature, a security detail was attached to it wherever it is traveled and is insured for $250,000 against the risk of loss or damage.
Using its Twitter account, the Miss Universe assured the reigning beauty queen that the precious crown will be fixed soon.
“Don’t worry it’ll be fixed in no time,” it tweeted.
Twitter users also comforted Gray through their sweet tweets; assuring her that it’s no big deal at all.
“It’s okay, queen,” @Ryyy_Masikip expressed on the video that Gray shared.
“The experience of happiness you brought is more precious than that of that broken piece,” handler @prescoalexis said in her comment.
“At least it wasn’t intentional, my love. You are a joy to watch adorable Queen @catrionaelisa dancing, waving, and smiling your heart out,” @cutiejhade26 said.
“Don’t worry, sweety, that will be fixed. Smile!” @avetorcuator tweeted in response..
“It will be fixed, my queen. We still love you,” wrote @JD730322.
