- Men cleaning a deep well of an Ilocos church found thousands of coins
- The well was used since 2000 as a wishing well
- About P10,000 coins were given to the men
Three men cleaning a deep well of Santa Monica Church in Sarrat, Illocos Norte were surprised after finding thousands of coins in it. Indeed, an early Christmas gift!
According to a Bombo Radyo story, the men were shocked as while they were digging it, they found scattered paper money followed by hard objects — which turned out to be coins.
The church’s head Reverend Father Joey Ranjo, as per GMA News, narrated he asked the men to clean the well after it no longer produces water which they use to water the plants.
But instead of shoveling mud as they expected, thousands of coins surprised them — which amounts to about P10,000.
The coins, he said, were given to the men as early Christmas gift.
The priest further disclosed that the 6-feet diameter well was established in 1829. Its depth is 40 feet, and it is made out of bricks.
Since 1990’s, it was used to get water but it became a wishing well in 2000 after it started to produce small quantity of water.
