- Fans think John Cena will be the next Captain America
- The wrestler-actor posted an image of Captain America’s shield on his Instagram page
- Cena did not explain the image he posted
A cryptic post made by wrestling superstar John Cena made his online followers think that he will be the next to play the role of Captain America.
Last Sunday, November 4, Cena, who is also an actor with several blockbuster movies under his belt, posted on his Instagram account an image of Captain America’s indestructible shield with several scratches that looked like claw marks.
The wrestler-actor did not include a caption for the image, which is understandable given that in the biography area of his Instagram page, he wrote that he will not explain images he posts. It reads: “Welcome to my Instagram. These images will be posted without explanation, for your interpretation. Enjoy.”
Many of his followers were thrilled with the idea of Cena portraying Captain America; with one of them saying “The right man for the job, JC. No surprise for me,” while others, because of the scratches on the shield, think Cena would portray another character.
“But look at those claw marks on the shield. Maybe John Cena is the next Black Panther,” a certain Anthony Melo said.
The Captain America role may soon be up for grabs as actor Chris Evans who portrayed the role for eight years made his last appearance as the fictional superhero in the Avengers 4 movie which is set to be shown on theaters in May 2019.
In a tweet, Evans said: “Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day, to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.”
With Evans’ retirement as Captain America, another actor would surely portray the role in the future. Whether it would be Cena or not remains to be seen.
