- Rodrigo Duterte said he is willing to let go of Harry Roque as his Spokesperson
- He said he’s already looking for a replacement
- Duterte sounded uncertain where to appoint Roque if he would not run in the 2019 election
President Rodrigo Duterte said he is willing to let go of his Spokesperson Harry Roque once the latter gives him his decision to quit his post.
“And sabi niya, mag-resign siya. Sabi ko ‘di sige. Then immediately – namili na kaagad ako ng replacement but I cannot tell you now kung sino sila,” the Inquirer quoted the chief executive saying.

Duterte revealed on Tuesday that Roque threatened to resign after he was put in a bad light on the media after he was not informed about Duterte’s visit in the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan last week.
Moreover, the President said the Spokesperson said he is one among his Cabinet members who will possibly run for the Senate in the 2019 midterm elections.
The chief executive said he does not understand Roque resigning for not knowing he is in the hospital.
“Hindi naman kailangan sabihin ko lahat eh. There are things which are limited to the immediate members of the family,” he added.
[I do not need to tell everything. There are things which are limited to the immediate members of the family.]
Duterte said he would communicate with his Cabinet members if something wrong took place but there was none.
In addition, he said, Roque haven’t asked him about it.
According to Pang-Masa, a source said Roque was offered to take the position as Press Secretary.
In a later GMA News story, however, Duterte said he’s considering appointing Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo as his press secretary.
The President sounded uncertain where to appoint the Spokesperson in case he would not run for any elective post.
With the revival of the Office of the Press Secretary, Presidential Communications and Operations Office (PCOO) would be abolished.
Duterte said he would put present PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar as a consultant and would be in charge of “re-configuring” the programs of PTV-4.
