Actor Derek Ramsay confirmed meeting with GMA executives regarding his impending transfer to the Kapuso Network; saying there are still some details to fix before signing the contract.
Ramsay said, as per Gorgy Rula’s PEP story, that he was offered to start by October via a television project with Jennylyn Mercado but he asked the network if he can start by next year because he has many things to work on like Rising Era Dynasty where is an investor.
The actor admitted that his best friend John Estrada influenced him in making a decision. He said he wants to work with Estrada.
The contract, he said, will be finalized once his manager Jojie Dingcong – who’s in America – is back home.
“I want to give them my very best, and I know that it’s gonna be my last hurrah for being an actor. I’m serious, guys. There’s so much I wanna do.”
Based on a LionhearTV post, Ramsay’s comeback to GMA might be one of the network’s attempt to use the hashtag #DerekReturnsToGMA; countering Regine Velasquez’s recent return to ABS-CBN.
The actor started his career with GMA Network via the noontime show Eat Bulaga! in the early 2000s.
Ramsay is best known for his supporting roles in Kapamilya dramas such as Ysabella, Habang May Buhay, and Magkaribal. He also appeared in commercially successful films I Love You Goodbye, The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin, and No Other Woman.
He’s also into sports — as a former competitor for the Philippine national ultimate frisbee team, and the present ambassador of the Philippine national beach football team.
