Facebook users had problems posting status messages to the social media site Monday morning, with most getting greeted with an error message saying: “An error occurred. Please try again later.” Some however were able to log on to the website but later discovered that they were unable to post a status update, receiving an error message instead that stated: “There was a problem updating your status. Please try again later.” The same is true for likes and photo posts. The outage also seems to be affecting the native iOS app.
The website looks like it was still up and running, however it appears that Facebook is experiencing outages that is not allowing some users from posting updates on its site and mobile app.
A spokesperson from Facebook confirmed the issue to NBC News, but added that it was now remedied:
Earlier this morning, while performing some network maintenance, we experienced an issue that prevented some users from posting to Facebook for a brief period of time. We resolved the issue quickly, and we are now back to 100%. We’re sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused.
Facebook users who posted to Twitter to complain turns to humor to express their frustrations:
Facebook’s down and so are my trousers. No idea where I’m going to post this selfie now.

Facebook down. That means someone at Google+ is frantically dusting away the cobwebs, hiding the dead plants & spraying febreeze.

It is not immediately know when the problem will be fixed.
